1972, Battambang

"In his eyes I saw the same innocence that I would later look for in the eyes of my children."

The Guardian of the Forest

Battambang (1972)

He had finally arrived. The years of hardship paid off when he took up his post as a forest ranger in Battambang province. Here he was the man he had always wanted to be: respected, competent, and in harmony with nature.
In his khaki uniform and with the law on his side, he protected the forests from looters. It was a time of strength and camaraderie. Whether strategically planning in his tent, patrolling in the monsoon rains, or rescuing endangered animals, he was at the height of his powers. But while he maintained order in the forest, a storm was brewing across Cambodia that no ranger could stop.
